Sumaq Pullira by Jim Farrer
Jim Farrer
Sumaq Pullira (Pretty Skirt) - is an oil painting mainly focusing on the traditional Inca symbolic designs in the fabric of the skirt worn by a dancer on the cabaret floor of a nightclub in Cusco. I captured this image during my recent trip to Cusco, the ancient Inca Capital of Peru. This work forms part of the "¡Imachus Chai! – a Peruvian Panorama" exhibition which was recently hosted by the Bank Street Gallery, Kirriemuir, Angus. This show is a collaborative project by myself, fellow artist and traveller Mike Turpie and Peruvian artist 'Paloma' (alias Hermelinda Palomino Mamani) from Cusco. Paloma is currently enjoying a cultural tour of the UK.
"¡Imachus Chai! – a Peruvian Panorama" is currently on tour in Scotland.
